Graduate School Completion

admin August 8th, 2008

When they speak about the graduate school, they always speak abut the requirements for the graduate school admission, however, the requirements for the graduate school completion are never spoken about. That is why I decided to write about the requirements for the graduate school completion.

So, the students always mention during the admission, the degree they are aimed on earning (master’s degree, doctoral). Sometimes, if the student has accomplished the master’s program successfully he or she is automatically accepted into the doctorate.

Some doctoral students who have earned candidacy, but did not present the dissertation, (ABD – all but dissertation) receive a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or Candidate in Philosophy (CPhil). The doctorate programs have a greater amount of grants, the master’s programs, that is why many students enroll the doctoral program in order to earn master’s degree.

During the education in the graduate school, many students start lecturing and earn a Lecturer Status, which is considered to be quite responsible one.

The first year of study, as a rule, is devoted to the research, the second and the third ones presuppose some examinations and tests. Some discipline presuppose up to ten years of education in order to receive a desirable degree.
